Design Inspirations

The design prototype for the Ru Kiln porcelain horse ornament is inspired by the bronze horse sculptures from the Western Zhou period. The original sculpture depicts a spirited young horse, standing tall with an elevated head, pricked ears, and a hanging tail.

The Green Horse is meticulously refined and crafted using the Ru porcelain technique, featuring a pea-green glaze with distinctive crackling patterns reminiscent of ice fractures. Similar to how the patina of bronze develops over time, the surface of Ru porcelain also exhibits traces of the passage of time, with an increase in crackling or potential changes in color.

Bronze artifacts have borne witness to the profound changes of the past millennia, and the “Green Horse” now assumes the role of an heir, persisting through this era, allowing time to leave its indelible marks. Unrestrained and spirited, the Green Horse gallops through the ages, a Ru porcelain masterpiece preserving its untamed demeanor. With the Green Horse in hand, it traverses the world.
