Design Inspirations

The turtle, revered as a totem in ancient China, symbolizes longevity and auspiciousness. Utilizing a turtle for home protection ensures safety and conveys connotations of prosperity.

In traditional Chinese culture, the concept of “Heaven is round, Earth is square” is embodied in the turtle’s form. With its elevated back resembling the heavens and a flat belly akin to the earth, the turtle is regarded as an auspicious creature possessing celestial knowledge and earthly wisdom. As a representative motif in Song Dynasty Ru ware ceramics, the turtle stands as an emblematic symbol of Song Dynasty culture.

Employing Ru porcelain dating back to the Song Dynasty, the revival of spiritual and cultural totems from the Song era is embodied in the distinctive form of Ru Kiln porcelain, notably the RU SHAN MING “Fu Jia Yi Fang” design, which draws inspiration from the turtle shell. The design symbolically encapsulates the aspirations for wealth, prosperity, and enduring well-being.

Product Highlights

  1. The intricate texture on the back of the turtle shell exhibits fine details and textured relief, while the unglazed underside unfaithfully reproduces the natural form of the turtle shell, providing a visually authentic representation.
  2. Crafted with antique-style glaze in Ru porcelain pea green, the glaze exhibits a lustrous, jade-like quality with distinct crackling patterns, presenting an overall design that is both rustic and majestic.
  3. Symbolic Beauty: Encompassing worldly wealth, reigning supreme in prosperity.
